US Marshal involved in shooting in North Olympia, suspect arrested after fleeing

A US Marshal was involved in a shooting that occurred in North Olympia near the intersection of Boston Harbor Road and 46th Avenue, according to police on scene.

The Marshal fired at the suspect after he attempted to run over the Marshal with his vehicle. The Marshal was on scene to arrest the subject who had a warrant from the Department of Corrections.

The suspect drove to Libby & 46th where he crashed his car and fled on foot. Police kept him contained using a perimeter.

At approximately 11:45 pm he was apprehended by a Thurston County police K9 unit on Baker Ames Road NE. Medics were dispatched for dog bites and because the suspect had run through an electrical farm fence, but did not appear to sustain any gunshot wounds, according to scanner traffic.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, Olympia Police Department, Lacey Police Department, and the US Marshal Service responded to this incident. It is unclear which agency will take the investigative lead, since the Marshal was involved in the shooting.
