Attic damaged in Northeast Olympia neighborhood house fire

A home was damaged in the Northeast Olympia neighborhood on Sunday morning after the home’s attic caught on fire, according to the Olympia Fire Department.

The Olympia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 900 blk of McCormick Street NE, across the street from Capitol Vision Church a little before 11:30 a.m, according to scanner traffic.

When fire crews arrived, flames were visible through the roof and smoke was pouring out of a vent in the attic. Crews kept the fire contained to the attic, however the interior of the home sustained some water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
