The Yelm Police Department says a 56-year old bank robber was arrested Tuesday morning in Spanaway after social media users identified him as the man who robbed the America’s Credit Union inside the Yelm Wal-Mart last weekend.
Yelm Police Chief Todd Stancil said the man has no prior criminal record. He entered the bank on Saturday morning, demanded money, and left with an unspecified amount of cash. He did not imply or show a weapon.
He was arrested this morning by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office after the public identified him on Facebook as a regular at the Roy Y Tavern in Spanaway. He was arrested without incident at the tavern.
According to the Yelm Police Department, the man was booked into Thurston County Jail for Robbery 2nd Degree after providing a detailed confession to investigators.
