Home damaged by fire in Lacey

Lacey Fire District 3 was dispatched to a home on Beaumont Lane SE, near Komachin Middle School, around 2:00 pm on Tuesday after a report of a fire.

When fire arrived on scene, the back part of the home, along the alley, was fully engulfed. Around 10 fire engines and several aid units and police officers responded to the call. The road was blocked off for around 2 hours.

According to Batallion Chief Tim Hulse, a mom went upstairs after smelling smoke to find smoke coming out of an electrical outlet.

A neighbor says the family is a total of seven. A dog, lizard, and hamster all esecaped the fire. They are working with the American Red Cross to find a temporary shelter.
